Deck Stripping
The strongest chemical strippers typically
contain a compound called methylene
chloride. These strippers will work the
fastest of all types, but care must be used.
Stripping a deck can be extremely expensive and damaging to the
environment and your property if not done properly by an experienced
company. It can remove the paint from your siding and kill any plants or
grass around the deck. Make sure when you contract someone to do
any stripping work on your home that they have experience in this
process and that they can perform it properly and safely.
Stripping is done with very strong chemicals that will melt away paint
and heavy stain based sealers. Usually the surface will have to be
stripped twice to make sure all of the paint or stain is removed. Then the
surface must be neutralized to stop the chemical process. After all this
has been performed, then the deck will need to have the restoration and
preservation service done to restore all the oils that have been removed
from the wood during stripping.
